About Resources for Enhanced Living

OUR REASON FOR BEING

Resources for Enhanced Living has grown out of perceived and experienced needs for additional educational and recreational resources to counter the intense stresses of our profession.

OUR INTEGRATED STRUCTURING

We realized that in order to have quality and diversified resources to support the growing needs to combat chaplain burnout, we needed to find support from a broader community beyond chaplaincy.

An inter-connectedness was developed between hospitality, boating, philanthropic, and chaplaincy communities. This partnership has created low cost, high quality, and diversified resources.

OUR IRONY

Though we are a Limited Liability Company rather than a Not-for-Profit 501c3, our structure has enabled us to keep our expenses lower, thus keeping our resources affordable for chaplains. We initially thought that a Not-for-Profit organization would have lower costs due to their altruistic nature. But, we soon learned that it was more beneficial to become a compassionate limited liability company.

We are not equipped to be unlimited containers for grief or traumatic anxieties, but rather we are made to be conduits of it. How do we let go of the pain we have seen and heard? How do we deal with the guilt we experience when we wish we could have done more? We can only hold so much before it begins to change us?

This 4 hour workshop is designed to help us: IDENTIFY the RISK FACTORS, PROCESS UNRESOLVED PAIN, and DEVELOP RESILIENCE.

The role of chaplain is emotionally tricky. Vocationally, we are people used to hearing painful stories, not necessarily sharing our pain with others. Spiritually, we can believe that Divine Grace should be enough support for us thereby keeping us more isolated than is healthy.

This four hour facilitated retreat allows chaplains an opportunity to know themselves and their team more authentically. There will be guided activities and conversations to help restore vitality and connection to one’s self, one’s faith, and one another
